About Gerry Stephen ...

Narcisus Hawera in Erica Schumacher's Garden

Speaker - October meeting.

Gerry Stephen lives in the north west of England, but has traveled extensively - to Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America and Africa. For the past three years he has been leading flower walks for wild flower enthusiasts in the Italian Dolomites

A self-described naturalist and member of the Wildlife Trust and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Gerry became interested in wild flowers whilst on holiday in Scotland over thirty years ago. To facilitate identification, he photographed what he saw and established a pattern of photographing the flora, fauna, habitats and scenery on his mountain explorations. Having developed his knowledge of Alpine plants from observing, reading about and growing them he has shared his knowledge on field trips and through lectures throughout the British Isles and internationally.

A member of several Alpine Garden Societies, he is chair of the East Lancashire Group. His lectures will feature plants in their native habitat photographed on his travels in the Dolomites and Mediterranean region.
