About Joe Strauch...

Speaker, April 2005  meeting.
Primula x allioni "Clarance Elliott"
A member of our Berkshire chapter, Joe has advanced degrees in biological sciences and horticulture. He is a lifelong field naturalist and horticulturist and was formerly Director of the Berkshire Botanical Garden. He is now full-time photographer with credits in many print publications and on-line.

Joe will be speaking on Plant Hunting in Western Newfoundland, a timely introduction for those who will attend the national meeting there. The talk will cover the west coast, from east of Channel-Port-aux Basques to Cape Norman, including Barachois Falls, Cheeseman Park, Port au Port Peninsula, Gros Morne National Park, Point Riche, and Burnt Cape, as well as Cape Norman itself. Photographs were taken in June and July, the height of the flowering season, and will include alpine shrubs, such as unusual willows and many orchids.
