Who are we?

BNARGS members - some profiles

This is a sampling of some of the expertise and interests of the members; but rest assured, there are others whose gardening is strictly amateur and who benefit from the insights of the more experienced.
Geoffrey Charlesworth

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Geoffrey Brown Charlesworth, one of the founders of the chapter. A celebration of his life is planned for October 11th at BBG. Dave Gehrs

Wild & garden plant lover

David Gehrs' ladyslipper orchid in the wild Dave says that hiking in the Adirondacks is what captured his interest in gardening. "I was first turned on to Bonsai and then mini plants. I realize that I saw naturally dwarfed trees and tiny plants while I was hiking. This is how a found my love for Alpines. It is always a gift to wander upon a pink lady slipper orchid."
Michael Pedens Michael's garden, Barefoot's Rockery is located in the Lake Champlain Valley, zone 4b. Since 1996, his focus has been on alpine plants, particularly those from higher up in the world's mountains. One of his goals is to trial some rarely grown small plants in a garden setting in order to determine their usefulness as subjects for rock gardens; another is to propagate further generations of promising plants from seed produced on garden stock in hopes of getting something a little less temperamental. Micro-nursery open by appointment and on special days.
